Terms of Service

Last updated: 2026

These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern any commission booked through Vellum & Quill ("the Studio", "we", "us"). By submitting a brief or paying a deposit, you ("the Client") agree to these Terms.

1. The Process

Commissions run on the process described on the main site: one intake brief, a scope/price/delivery-date confirmation, a first draft on the agreed date, one consolidated round of revisions, and final delivery. There are no discovery calls or meetings — everything is handled in writing over email.

2. Pricing & Payment

  • Commissions start at $500 for a full-stack setup; final pricing depends on scope and is confirmed in writing before work begins.
  • A deposit is due to book the commission; the balance is due on final delivery unless otherwise agreed in writing.
  • Prices are quoted per-commission and do not include ongoing hosting, domain, or third-party subscription costs unless explicitly stated.
  • Deposits are non-refundable once work has started, since the delivery slot is reserved exclusively for your commission.

3. Scope & Revisions

Scope is fixed at booking based on the submitted brief. One consolidated round of revisions is included, sent as a single list of changes. Requests outside the original brief, or additional revision rounds, are treated as a new commission with its own quote and timeline.

4. Client Responsibilities

You're responsible for the accuracy and legality of any content, copy, images, trademarks, or other assets you supply for use in your commission, and for having the rights to use them. The Studio is not liable for third-party content you provide.

5. Ownership & License

Upon receipt of final payment, ownership of the final delivered files transfers to the Client. The Studio retains the right to display the finished work in its own portfolio/catalog unless the Client requests otherwise in writing.

6. Turnaround & Delays

The 24-hour revision turnaround applies once the consolidated revision list is received. Delivery dates assume the Client responds and supplies any required materials promptly; delays on the Client's side may shift the delivery date accordingly.

7. Limitation of Liability

The Studio's total liability for any claim arising from a commission is limited to the amount paid for that commission. The Studio is not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages, including lost revenue or data.

8. Termination

Either party may cancel a commission before the first draft is delivered; deposits already paid are non-refundable as outlined above. Cancellations after the first draft is delivered are billed for work completed to date.

9. Changes to These Terms

These Terms may be updated from time to time; the version in effect at the time you book a commission applies to that commission.

10. Contact

Questions about these Terms can be sent to hello@vellumandquill.studio.
